uncname

return the UNC name for a specified file

SYNOPSIS

uncname [-ls] filename...


DESCRIPTION

uncname returns the UNC name which refers to the specified file. Local files return a UNC name of the form

\\.\X:\file

where X is the local drive letter, and file is the full path name of the specified file.

Options

-l 

returns the LAN manager share point, in the form \\computername\sharepoint.

-s 

returns the server name. If both the -l and -s options are used, the -s option takes precedence.


DIAGNOSTICS

Possible exit status values are:

0 

Successful completion.

>0 

An error occurred.
