Standard PTC Lex & Yacc Installation

  1. Launch the installer. If you are installing from a CD, insert the MKS Lex & Yacc distribution CD; the installer should start automatically. If you are installing from an electronic distribution, run the self-extracting installer.

  2. Click the Install Lex & Yacc button. If necessary, Windows Installer is now automatically installed and configured. The Lex & Yacc Installer's title page appears with the option to cancel the installation. If you do not cancel it, the Welcome to the Setup for MKS Lex & Yaccdialog appears.

  3. Click Next >. The License Agreement dialog appears.

  4. Read the license agreement. Select I accept the terms in the terms in the license agreement and click Next >.

    If you do not accept the terms of the license agreement, you cannot proceed past this point in the installation.

  5. Enter your user name, organization, serial number, and PIN (Personal Identification Number) in the appropriate fields and click Next >.

    Your serial number is located on the PTC Lex & Yacc box (for new users) or contained in an e-mail (for PTC Web store purchases).

    Your PIN is located on the PTC Lex & Yacc box (if purchased directly from PTC), contained in an e-mail (if purchased through the PTC Web store), or can be obtained by registering your product.

    To register your product:

    1. Click the Register button. The installer launches a browser window showing the registration form.

    2. Fill out the registration form and click the appropriate Submit button for how you want to submit your registration to PTC. If you submitted your registration by Internet, a new page appears confirming your registration; otherwise, instructions on submitting your registration appear.

      You need only to register your software once for each unique serial number.

    3. Your PIN will be emailed to the address on the registration form.

  6. The Please Wait dialog appears. There will be a pause while the installer prepares to continue, then the Setup Type dialog appears.

  7. Select one of the installation options—Typical, Compact, or Custom and click Next >.

    If you select Typical or Compact, the Destination Folder dialog appears. If there is no existing PTC MKS Toolkit installation, you can change the directory in which PTC Lex & Yacc is installed by clicking the Change... button and entering the new directory.

    If you select the Custom option, the Custom Setup dialog appears, allowing you to select and deselect the various components included in PTC Lex & Yacc.

    Clicking Help on the Custom Setup dialog displays the Custom Setup Tips dialog explaining what the various icons on the Custom Setup dialog mean Click OK to close this dialog.

    Clicking Space on the Custom Setup dialog displays the disk space requirements for the currently selected components.

    If there is no existing MKS installation, you can change the directory in which MKS Lex & Yacc is installed by clicking the Change... button and entering the new directory.

  8. The Ready to Install the Program dialog appears. Click Install to begin the installation of PTC Lex & Yacc files. The Installing PTC Lex & Yacc dialog appears and shows the progress of the installation. When the installation is complete, the Setup Completed dialog appears. You can choose whether or not to display the release notes.

  9. Click Finish to complete the installation. If you chose to display the release notes, the installer launches a browser window displaying these notes.

  10. If the installation requires you to restart your system for the changes to take effect, a dialog appears informing you of this fact.

    Click Yes to restart your system now.

    Click No if you would prefer to restart your system manually later.
